Signed association copy from the collection of editor, publisher, and literary agent, Al Hart. Mr. Hart was best known for editing Ian Fleming's first seven James Bond novels. He became a publisher at Dial Press in June 1969. William Saroyan was a Pulitzer and Academy Award winning writer. Saroyan had an influence on many writers, including Jack Kerouac. Kurt Vonnegut called Saroyan "the first and still the greatest of all the American minimalists." The book's inscription reads, "For my friends Jo and Al Hart this deceptively simple classic of American writing (it will last forever approximately) how lucky we are to be connected with it & the world (ha) with love Bill Fresno Tuesday April 21 1970".
